My Favorite Jayhawks

Last night we watched the Jayhawks take on Villanova. To show our support, the whole family was decked out in our Kansas gear. I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of my two favorite Jayhawks. Luke actually watches the TV when we have it on. You can tell that something else has his attention besides the camera...

We are finally using some other toys besides his swing. Richard pulled his Bumbo seat out the other night and he seems to enjoy it. He's pretty good at keeping his head up, but sometimes it gets a little heavy for him and it falls to the side.

Tummy Time

So, the pediatrician told us that we should be doing "tummy time" with Luke for 15 minutes twice a day. I'm lucky to get him on his tummy for 15 seconds, let alone 15 minutes. I tell Richard this on a regular basis. So, last night I went to a jewelry party and when I get home Richard tells me that Luke enjoyed his tummy time so much that he did it for 8 minutes and he was able to snap all sorts of pics where he is smiling and enjoying himself. Of course I think it must be all of the time that I have been working with him on it, right? So this morning, I put Luke on his tummy (not to be outdone) and he rolled over! It scared him because he immediately started crying once he made it over to his side/back. But, I think it could have just been a fluke because I got out the video camera prepared to capture it on film when he did it again, but he would have nothing to do with it. I did pick up the phone to tell Richard what he had missed and his response is "Did he really do it or did he have help (lying at an angle or on something, etc.)?" I told him that he was laying in the floor in the office, so unless that floor is crooked, he really did it. But, I've tried a couple more times and haven't been able to recreate it, but will continue to do so and will blog about it...

Mommy & Me

Although everyone thinks that Luke looks like Richard, he is definitely a Mama's Boy! He can recognize my voice when I am talking and will smile as soon as he sees me (most of the time, unless he is really mad). Happy Monday!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We wanted to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day! He looked too cute in these pics not to share them (not that I am biased or anything). His shirt says "Rub my belly for Good Luck". He definitely has a belly on him, but don't we all :). Thanks Kelley for the shirt - we love it.

Visit to Dr. Jackson

We visited the pediatrician today for Luke's 2-month shots. He had to get 3 shots, but took it like a champ. He cried for a few seconds when the needle went in and then he shook it off. So far he hasn't been too fussy or anything (knock on wood). They said that he might be really tired today and sleep more than normal. That wouldn't be too hard since he rarely sleeps more than an hour or two during the day. For those of you that are curious, Luke weighs 11 pounds 12 ounces and is 23.5 inches tall. I could tell that he was getting taller because his 0-3 month outfits that have feet in them are almost too short.

8 Weeks Old

Well, we have officially found the best baby item out there. For 8 weeks now, the only way that we can get Luke to sleep is to hold him and rock him until he is in a DEAD sleep and then put him down. Sometimes this works and he will sleep for a few hours. Sometimes he wakes up immediately when his back touches the crib and sometimes he will cat nap for 15-20 minutes. On Friday, we went to a friends house who had the Graco Sweet Peace Newborn Soothing System. I put Luke in it just to see how he would do. Not only did he sit quietly for at least 45 minutes, he also put himself to sleep. I was able to enjoy lunch with my friend without having to hold him. So, I immediately rushed to Target and purchased one for myself. Since we've had it home, Richard and I have both been able to eat dinner at the same time and we've been able to put him in it and he is content while we are able to take care of other things. Normally Richard doesn't always support my Target addiction, but this is one item that we both agree on. By far, this is the best money we have spent in a long time.

29 Degrees and Snowing...

Well, we were hoping that March would give us some better weather so that we could get out and do some things before I have to go back to work. But today, we woke up to snow and wind chills in the teens. We decided to brave the frigid temperatures and go visit the Kim, Katy, Meagan and Grady Dekker and then met Mandi and Mitchell at the mall for a little mall walking. Good thing I found this hat on sale at the Gap for him to wear. Next week should bring warmer temperatures. Here's to hoping that is the case...

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Luke enjoyed the KU vs. K-State game this evening. We decided to bring out some of his Jayhawk gear in hopes that it would bring the Jayhawks good luck. He is really looking forward to the NCAA tournament in a few weeks.
