Jayhawks and Royals

Wow! What a weekend for sporting events. I almost had a heart attack during the KU vs. North Carolina game on Saturday when we nearly blew our 28 point lead and then another one during the KU vs. Memphis game last night. That shot by Mario Chalmers was AMAZING! Luke was so excited to wear all of his KU gear to daycare on Monday and was even more excited when he got there and several of the other kids were Jayhawks fans also. Today was Opening Day for the Royals and they pulled off a victory over the Yankees. As hard as I am trying to brainwash Luke to be a KU fan, Richard is trying equally hard to make him a Royals fan, and a Chiefs fan, and a Blues fan, and really pretty much any type of sports fan. To celebrate the start of baseball season, we had to get him dressed in his Royals gear today.

Luke turned 12 weeks old yesterday and according to Richard's fairly unscientific calculations, he weighs 12.5 lbs. He is also getting VERY tall! We have had to stop swaddling his legs because he is too long for the swaddling blanket. This weekend we went to buy him some new sleepers and had to get some that were 6-9 months just to get the right length. We are estimating that he may be 25 inches long or so now. We still love to take his pictures and think he is too cute. Not that we are biased or anything.

I'm sure that most of you aren't interested in his feet, but I absolutely love these socks. My friend Kara got them for us as a baby gift and they come in a set of 6. They are all different colors and look like tennis shoes. Last Friday Richard and I went out to dinner to celebrate Richard's 32nd b-day and we found some socks that are the same brand, but have golf balls and golf tees on them. Even though I am not much of a golfer, they were too cute to pass up. Plus, my Dad found a toy golf cart that comes with a set of clubs for Luke. It is for ages 3 and up, so it will be a while before he is ready to use it, but he can at least dress the part for the time being.

Man, I'm glad the jayhawks won or else Luke probably wouldn't be smiling this big :) Just kidding! I'm also a fan of the socks!!!
