A Crazy Couple of Weeks

Life at the Wasleski house has been a bit crazy, hence no posts for the past few weeks. It has been 4 1/2 weeks since our 6-month appointment (5 weeks on Wednesday) and still no teeth. I just knew that had to be why he was so fussy, had a cold, wouldn't sleep, etc. The doctor told me that he predicted teeth within 6 weeks - looks like he is going to be right. I guess his M.D. taught him more than my internet research/reading taught me on teething. I am still convinced that he is teething because he gnaws on everything. The other day he put the entire head of a diet coke bottle into his mouth and started chewing on it. He'll chew on ANYTHING! Also, his sleep has become very erratic again - he is waking up on average 5 times a night. I know some of you think that I am finally having to pay my dues, but this kid has essentially slept through the night since he was a month old - there has to be something wrong with him, doesn't there? Oh, and he drools like a machine. Yes, that is drool on his chin in the pictures below. We got professional pictures taken of him at 6-months and every picture has drool in it - I guess that is why you take pictures digitally. Who would have thought that you would need to be airbrushed at 6 months?


He still isn't rolling over from his belly to his back - he has the other way mastered, but will not go back onto his back. Maybe he feels like he spends so much time on his back as is, that he should take advantage of his tummy time. Although he clearly didn't feel that way several months ago.

He is trying really hard to crawl. He pushes up on his hands and pulls his knees up and does some sort of rendition of "the 80's Worm" if you all remember that. It looks hilarious and we always laugh at him, so he keeps doing it.

He can't pull himself up yet, but he can definitely stand for an extended period of time. He likes to play with his activity table and if you stand him up against it, it will entertain him for a while. And then when he falls, it can entertain him while he sits - at least the one side that he can reach.


As you can see, our living room has turned into a playroom. We have the exersaucer, activity table, and the entertainment center is stocked with diaper supplies and other toys, if the ones that are out don't entertain him. I keep telling Richard that we need a bigger house with more space, but we are here for the time being...

Luke LOVES his Papa. Every time he is crying and Papa comes into the room, he stops and starts laughing. He also is in the phase where he grabs everything and thinks it is his. Here he opted for Papa's hat, but it made for a good Kodak moment.

Aside from that, most of my faithful readers know that I had to have my gall bladder removed last Tuesday. I was off work all last week, am weaning myself off my pain pills and plan to go back this next week for as much as I can handle. During the surgery, they also biopsied one of my lymph nodes because it was enlarged. Fortunately, they called on Friday and said that it was benign, so we all breathed a big sigh of relief. The bad news with all of this is that I can't pick up Luke for 2 weeks. I can hold him, if someone hands him to me, but can't physically lift him from his crib, car seat, exersaucer, anything. I tried to do some minor lifting yesterday and am seriously paying for it today. So, Richard is definitely putting in OT picking up the majority of the Luke duties and taking care of me. He hasn't even complained a little bit, even though Luke has been waking up several times a night. I feel very lucky to have such a great husband and a wonderful father. I know it is sappy, but thought that everyone should know :).
