My First Tooth
We had a pretty low key weekend since the past few have been a little hectic and I've been traveling quite a bit for work (I was in Chicago for 4 days last week and am flying out bright and early tomorrow morning). We ran a lot of errands and caught up a little around the house. So, I don't have anything too terribly exciting to blog about. But, I think Luke's first tooth is up enough that you can see it in pictures, so decided that I would post that. I think his second bottom tooth might also be coming in, but it is hard to tell right now.

Scooter!
Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, but Luke has become mobile! This past weekend he was scooting around a few feet and then growing tired of the effort. However, when he went back to daycare on Monday after a three day hiatus, he surprised his teacher by starting to scoot all over the place. Every day he is becoming more and more mobile. As a matter of fact, when I went to pick up Luke from daycare today I was surprise to find him in a playpen, while both of the teachers were busy feeding other babies. It turns out that the teachers were too busy with the feedings to keep him out of trouble, he was going around terrorizing the other kids in his class by stealing their pacifiers right out of their mouths! Attached to the post is a video of Luke scooting around this afternoon. Enjoy!

Visit to Deanna Rose
My sister and nephew came to town for the weekend, so the whole family packed up and headed for Deanna Rose Farmstead. It was a gorgeous day and the boys had fun feeding the baby goats and walking around. Here are a few pictures from the festivities.

It only took...
... 8 months and 5 days for Luke to get his first tooth! You can't really see it in this picture, but I'll try to get a close up and post it to the blog. What a week this has been! On Tuesday, I was in Chicago for work - of course, this is the day that daycare calls me and says that Luke has a fever, is crying uncontrollably and is just not himself. I told them to give him some Tylenol (which is a whole different story). When Richard went to pick him up, they said that he had diarrhea and was giving it to the other kids and couldn't come back to daycare until it cleared up. So, I attempted to work from home on Wednesday and Friday and Richard took off Thursday. We called the pediatrician and they said that the fever was probably related to the teething, but the diarrhea wasn't, but not to bring him in because there wouldn't be anything they could do. I have polled my girlfriends and have done on-line research and I beg to differ with Dr. Jackson. Most everyone agrees that teething and diarrhea are related. He also has a cold which I figured he got from the flights to and from Chicago, but some experts also believe that teething causes a runny nose also. I'm just really hoping that he doesn't have this with every tooth that comes in or we are going to be in serious trouble with daycare!

Trip to Chicago
It's hard to believe that back in 1994 Erin and I were freshman at KU. We immediately bonded when she asked where I was from and it turned out that she was born there. In 14 years, we have been through a lot. Now, we both have Luke's that are only 3 weeks apart. Although it was the rainiest weekend that Chicago has ever had, we had a fantastic time visiting the Germans. Here are a few pictures from the trip...

Labor Day Weekend
We enjoyed the last weekend of summer by going to Table Rock Lake. To celebrate the start of football season (the Jayhawks did win the Orange Bowl last year, if you recall) Luke sported his new Jayhawk jersey. I want to get some of those iron-on letters and put his name on the back, but haven't gotten around to that yet.
This was Luke's first time in the lake - he floated around on his life jacket and enjoyed riding the waves as they came in. Here, he is trying out his new floatie.
In the distance, you can vaguely make out Richard riding my Dad's jet ski - the boys enjoyed riding on it while Luke and I watched from the shallow water.
Richard coming in to take a breather.
Richard and Luke hanging out in the water.
Luke chilling in his floatie.
Still no teeth...
Not to be outdone by Grandpa W, Papa decided that Luke needed to try a Twizzler. He loved gnawing on it and drooled red all over his shirt to prove it. Although I was beginning to think that there was no way this could be my son after his disgust for the rainbow sherbet, I definitely know he is mine after how much he went to town on that Twizzler.
