Back to Work

Well, today was my first day back to work and we all survived. I think that Luke handled it a lot better than I did, but we both made it. Actually, once I made it to work, my day was great. My co-workers had made a "Welcome Back" sign and attached a picture from the blog of Luke. Also, it helped that I worked a pretty short day. I'm trying to ease back into it this week. But, the drop-off at daycare was so much harder than I ever imagined that it could be. Some of my girlfriends had warned me that it would be difficult and very emotional. I didn't think that I would have the same problem since I was really looking forward to going back to work and having some adult interaction and something to challenge my brain. But, I was WRONG!! Luke started crying on the way to daycare (just because he wanted his pacifier and it had fallen out of his mouth), but that made me start crying. The teachers in his room were very nice and said that all first-time moms are this way, but I think they might have thought I was a basket case. We called to check on him over lunch and they said that he was doing fine. He had taken a short nap in the morning and had only cried when they didn't get his bottle heated up fast enough. That made me feel better and the afternoon went by really quickly. He seemed really excited to see me when I picked him up. They were feeding him and as soon as he heard my voice, he looked around. So, that made me feel better. I'm sure tomorrow will be even easier. The next big test will be in two weeks when I take my first trip out of town.

Where are you going?!?!?!? Ugh! I thought you handled it like a champ today! You made it longer than I made it on my first day back :)

Hang in there, April! I know it's tough - the first day is the worst though, it will get better.
